Transfer Admission Requirements

A transfer student is required to submit an application for admission at least ninety (90) days prior to the beginning of the semester in which he/she wishes to enroll, to insure adequate time for records to be processed. An applicant must submit the following:

  • A completed application for admission and a non-refundable application fee.


  • Official transcript(s) submitted directly from previous colleges or universities attended to the Office of Records. (If an applicant having less than a 2.0 grade point ("C") average (GPA) from his/her previous college or university is admitted, the applicant will be admitted on academic probation.)


  • ACT or SAT test scores and high school transcripts if transferring less than 30 semester hours.



  • Regular Status

    A student with acceptable academic and social records at other accredited institutions will be considered for admission to Lincoln University as a regular-status transfer student. A maximum of 90 semester hours of academic credit may be accepted from accredited four-year institutions or a maximum of 64 semester hours of academic credit may be accepted from accredited two-year institutions. A transfer student with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 on a scale of 4.0 for all college work attempted, and in good standing with the last college attended, will be considered for admission. A transfer student whose cumulative grade point average (GPA) for all college work attempted is less than 2.0 on a 4.0 scale, and who is eligible for re-admission to a college or university on probation, may be admitted on probation at the discretion of the University. Such a student must earn a minimum average of 2.0 during the first semester of enrollment. Failure to earn a "C" average will result in suspension. A transfer student suspended for academic reasons from the last institution attended may be eligible for admission to Lincoln University after one semester has elapsed and provided the student is eligible for re-admission to the institution from which he/she was suspended.

    Special Status

    A transfer student who has been suspended for disciplinary reasons from his/her previous institution may be considered for admission to Lincoln University after the period of suspension from his/her institution has expired. Admission under these conditions requires the student to interview with the Vice President for Student Affairs, who will provide a recommendation for acceptance into the University.

    A transfer student who has been suspended for academic reasons may be considered for admission to the University after the period of suspension from his/her institution has expired. Admission under these conditions requires the student to interview with the Academic Routine Committee, which makes its recommendation to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.

    Visiting Student Status

    A student who is currently attending another accredited college/university may be admitted to Lincoln University as a Visiting Student. The student is required to submit an application form and the $17 non-refundable application fee. Visiting students are not eligible to receive federal student financial aid.
