Description: Description: Lincoln University of Missouri invites applications for a faculty position in the Cooperative Research Unit. This position is approximately 75% Research and 25% Teaching in the area of Urban Forestry. Position Responsibilities: •Develop a nationally recognized research program in the broad field of urban forestry and wild land-urban interface (WUI) issues, with a focus on urbanization and changing land use. Potential topics include public policy, conflict resolution, physical, economic and social benefit/costs of urban trees, comprehensive planning, urban forest health, ecosystem functions in urban environments, and other topics associated with increasing human influences on forests and environmental conflicts. •Participate in collaborative, interdisciplinary research and teaching projects with other faculty within the programs at Lincoln University and other institutions as well as professionals in government and private organizations. •Teach undergraduate/graduate courses in urban forestry and wild land-urban interface in the area of expertise; Advise undergraduate students, and recruit and mentor graduate students at M.S. and Ph.D. levels. •Actively seek extramural funding for the research; publish in peer- reviewed journals. •Fulfill appropriate service roles within the Department, the College, the University, and professional groups and associations. Qualifications: Ph.D. in forestry with emphasis in urban forestry, arboriculture, or closely related natural resources field; Depth of knowledge in forest dynamics, plant community ecology, and social sciences; Post-doctoral research experience preferred and teaching experience desirable. Interpersonal, effective oral and written communication skills, and willingness and ability to work in a team-oriented environment with a diverse group of students and faculty are essential.
