TRACK: Three Lincoln University track athletes left their mark at the JAAA (Jamaica) National Senior Trials last week. Dane Hyatt qualified for the finals of the 400m dash with a time of 45.56s, and placed fourth overall in the finals with a time of 45.97s. Three Lincoln men competed in the 100m dash against a tough field that included former world record holder Asafa Powell and current world record holder Usain Bolt. Kimour Bruce, Kawayne Fisher and Lerone Clarke all advanced out of the preliminaries to the semi-finals. Though they were unable to advance to the finals, Bruce and Fisher posted times of 10.40s and 10.38s respectively in the semis. Lerone Clark advanced past the semis with a time of 10.19s and finished seventh overall with a time of 10.25s. Janika Martell also participated in the 100m dash at nationals. She placed 12th in the preliminaries with a time of 11.73s.
BASEBALL: In baseball news, Andy Moss had strong showing in his second appearance this season for the Johnson City (TN) Cardinals. Moss threw another three shutout innings allowing two hits and one walk while striking out four batters. He will get his first opportunity to start this upcoming Friday, July 3rd.

Athletes from three different Lincoln sports are all continuing their successful athletic pursuits.
TRACK: This week four Lincoln University track athletes will be cometing in the JAAA (Jamaican Amateur Athletic Association) National Championship. Three Blue Tiger men will be competing, Kawayne Fisher, Dane Hyatt and Kimour Bruce along with one Blue Tiger female, Janika Martell. The event will take place at the National Stadium from June 26th to the 28th. Live scoring of the event can be followed at the JAAA website here: www.jaaaltd.com/
Last week another pair of Lincoln track athletes competed in Trinidad & Tobago's championships. Semoy Hackett continued her success by finishing first in the 200m and second in the 100m, while Nandelle Cameron placed eighth in the 100m.
BASEBALL: Andy Moss recently made his first debut for the Johnson City (TN) Cardinals on Wednesday. Moss was solid striking out two, walking two and giving up just two hits in three innings of work for St. Louis' rookie affiliate.
GOLF: Anisul Huq has also shown well this week at the Missouri Amateur Golf Tournament at the St. Joseph Country Club. He advanced from the qualifying rounds Wednesday and will now participate in the first round of match play today.
Last weekend saw former Blue Tiger standout golfer Aaron Murphy win the Francis Hagan Match Play Championship. Murphy had just come off of a win at the Phil Cotton Invitational two weeks previously.

Lincoln University pitcher Andy Moss was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 35th round today. The right hander led the Blue Tiger pitching staff this year by pitching 9 complete games in 12 games started this season. Moss also led the team in wins (5), ERA (3.68) and strikeouts (100). Moss was able to hold opponents to a .230 batting average this year. Andy will be playing rookie league ball for the Johnson City Cardinals in Johnson City, Tennessee. Their season begins on June 23, 2009.
Monday, June 1, 2009: Track Honors. Lincoln University Blue Tigers Track stars Samoy Hackett, and Dane Hyatt have been named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as the Women's and Men's Track Athletes of the Year for the South Central Region
Saturday, May 23, 2009: Track. For the second time this year, the Lincoln University Blue Tiger Women's Track team are national champions. In the NCAA Division II championships in San Angelo, Texas, the women edged out host San Angelo State 85 to 82 for the title. The men's team came in 4th place. Individual honors went to Samoy Hackett (100 meter dash, 200 meter dash), AnnaKay Campbell (Long Jump), and Kawayne Fisher (Men's 100 meter dash). The Blue Tigres also are reigning national champions in several team events: Women's 4X100 meter Relay (Nandelle Cameron, Samoy Hackett, Sudian Davis, Janika Martell), the Women's 4X400 meter relay (Janika Martell, AnnaKay Campbell, Samoy Hackett, Keniesha Jones) and the Men's 4X100 Meter Relay (Kawayne Fisher, Gavin Terrelonge, Dwain Bryden, Kimour Bruce)

Monday, May 11, 2009: Golf. The Lincoln University Blue Tiger Golf team finished in 2nd place at the PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Aaron Murphy led the Blue Tigers with his 221, followed closely by Kortland Ware and his 223.

The US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has recognized Anna-Kay Campbell as the 2009 Division II Indoor Track & Field South Central Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year. Head Track Coach Victor Thomas was selected as the South Central Region Women's Coach of the Year.
