Here's what's happening in Lincoln Blue Tiger Athletics!  

 

 

2 Lincoln University Blue Tigers have been named to the 2nd team All Heartland Conference Baseball Team.  Catcher Dan Struemph and Outfielder Mike Overman were chosen by the conference head baseball coaches.  Congratulations!

BASEBALL

The Blue Tiger Baseball team lost the Friday double header to
the Rattlers from St. Mary's.  The scores:  

Game 1
Lincoln      6
St. Mary's      17  
David Fall gets the loss

Game 2 
Blue Tigers     1
Rattlers     4 
Andy Moss gets the loss  

Saturday's matchups were a little better for the Blue Tigers, but once again they fell to St. Mary's.  The scores:

Game 3
Lincoln     15
St. Mary's     19
Dustin Bess gets the loss.  Blue Tigers Mike Costa, Drew Horrell, and Ben Neuner all hit home runs, Neuner hit 2.

Game 4
Blue Tigers     4
Rattlers     9
Dan Scanio takes the loss.

The Blue Tigers are back home for the final series of the season next weekend, with the Aggies from Oklahoma Panhandle State University.


SOFTBALL 

The softball team defeated the Aggies from Oklahoma Panhandle State University in the 1st round of the Heartland Conference Tournament.  
The final score:  
Lincoln     6
Oklahoma Panhandle     1

 The Lincoln University Blue Tiger Softball Team lost their game in the 2nd round to #1 seed St. Mary's.  

The final score:  
Blue Tigers     0
Rattlers     8
  After a tough game with the St. Edwards Hilltoppers, the Lincoln University Blue Tigers are out of the Heartland Conference Tournament 
in San Antonio, Texas.  
The final score:  
Lincoln     0
St. Edwards     3

At the Annual Lincoln University Athletic Department Banquet 
Wednesday evening, 
Wilbert Walker was named the 2008 Lincoln University Male Athlete of the Year.  Wilbert entered the NCAA Indoor Championships with the nation's top Division II marks in the Long Jump, and the Triple Jump.  He set those records at the 2006 Outdoor Championships.  He continued his winning streak by winning the Division II National Championship in the Long Jump (7.69 meters), and in the Triple Jump (16.39 meters).  
He is a Junior from St. Thomas, Jamaica.  

Marcia Woolery was named the 2008 Lincoln University Female Athlete of the Year.  Marcia placed 2nd in the 200 meter dash, and 6th in the 60 meter dash at the NCAA Division II National Championships in March.  She is a Senior from Kingston, Jamaica. 
The Championships were held in Mankato, Minnesota.

TENNIS

Great news for the Lincoln University Blue Tigers Women's Tennis Team.  The Heartland Conference Head Women's Tennis Coaches have selected this year's 
All-Conference Team.  Blue Tiger Ana Lidon was selected for the Heartland All Conference Women's Tennis Team.  Congratulations!

 
GOLF

Great news for 3 Lincoln University Blue Tiger Men's Golfers.  The Heartland Conference Head Men's Golf Coaches have selected this year's 
All-Conference Team.  Blue Tigers Dan Frost, Rodolfo Gamiño and Aaron Murphy have all been recognized.  Senior Dan Frost was named to the Conference First Team.  Senior Rodolfo Gamiño and Junior Aaron Murphy were named to the Second Team.

TENNIS

Friday, the Lincoln University Blue Tigers Women's Tennis team competed in the Heartland Conference Tournament in Austin, texas.  The women lost 5-0 to St. Mary's.

 
TRACK  

 Lincoln University Blue Tiger sprinters have done well again.  Keneisha Jones placed 1st in the Women's 400 m dash (58.15),
 and Rupert Smith won the Men's 400 m dash (49.96 this weekend at the 
Dewey Allgood Invitational in Rolla, Missouri.

Another squad of athletes travelled to Fayetteville, Arkansas for the John McDonnell Invitational at the University of Arkansas.  Natoya Thompson won the Women's High Jump in the Heptathlon (1.72m).  On the men's side, Kawayne Fisher won the 100 m dash (10.53) and the 200 m dash (21.23).  The Blue Tigers also won the 4 x 100 m relay

TRACK

Lincoln University Blue Tiger Long Jumper Wilbert Walker has won the NCAA Division II Indoor Championship in the Long Jump (7.69m). Walker has also won the NCAA Division II Indoor Championship in the Triple Jump (16.39m).  Several other Blue Tigers competed well enough to net Lincoln 3rd place for the Women's team, and 6th place for the Men's team.
