Alumni Basketball Canceled

The Alumni Basketball Game and reception scheduled for this evening has been canceled due to the winter weather forecast.  Tomorrow's Blue Tiger Basketball Senior Day games have been pushed back to a 3 p.m. start time for the women and 5 p.m. start time for the men's game. 

Post-game alumni events for this evening have also been canceled.

FAFSA Frenzy Helps Students Apply for Financial Aid

The Missouri Association of Student Financial Aid Personnel and the Missouri Department of Higher Education are partnering closely to bring FAFSA Frenzy to Missouri in 2015. To assist students and parents with the FAFSA process, financial aid professionals will be on hand at FAFSA Frenzy. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015. On the campus of Lincoln University, Page Library (Rooms 119 and 120) at 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Scholarships will be drawn for students attending an event in Missouri. Winners will receive their scholarships upon receipt of enrollment documentation for the 2015 fall term in a Missouri postsecondary program. Families will be able to complete the 2015–16 FAFSA on-site and obtain valuable information.
2015 FAFSA Frenzy events will mark the 12th year that Missouri has offered FAFSA Frenzy. Since 2004 FAFSA Frenzy has helped more than 14,000 Missouri students complete the FAFSA.

*FAFSA Frenzy, a program of College Goal Sunday SM, is offered in Missouri through partnerships between the Missouri Department of Higher Education (MDHE) with the Missouri Association of Student Financial Aid Personnel (MASFAP), the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority (MOHELA), and USA Funds. LINCOLN UNIVERSITY TO COMMEMORATE FOUNDING
Retirees, longtime employees and graduates to receive honors
 
Jefferson City, MO- Lincoln University will celebrate 149 years of education during the Founders Day Convocation on Thursday, February 5.  The convocation is scheduled for 11 a.m. in Robert and Charlene Mitchell Auditorium in Richardson Fine Arts Center.  
 
The featured speaker for the 2015 Founders Day Convocation is Dr. Maisha Handy, Associate Vice President of Academic Services/Associate Provost and Associate Professor of Religious Education at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta, Georgia. Handy is a 1989 graduate of Lincoln University.  She also holds a Master of Divinity degree Candler School of Theology, Emory University (1994) and a Ph.D. degree in Religion (Theology & Personality Theory) from Emory University (2002).  
 
James Poore, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics, is one of two recipients of the Presidential Award of Distinction.  Poore is the owner/operator of four McDonald’s restaurants in Indianapolis, Indiana.  
 
The second Presidential Award of Distinction honoree is Dr. Winston Rutledge.  A retired educator, who earned the Bachelor of Science in Education and the Master of Education degrees from Lincoln University, was appointed to the Lincoln University Board of Curators in 2012. He served as the President of the Board in 2014.  
 
Employees who have devoted 25 years to Lincoln University will also be recognized for their service, as will those who retired in 2014.

ROTC AND NURSING GRADUATES MARK RITES OF PASSAGE 
 
Jefferson City, MO- Nineteen students who have completed their degrees at Lincoln University in the Fall 2014 semester will mark their accomplishments during two traditional rites of passage. The ROTC Commissioning Ceremony is scheduled for Friday, December 12, at 11 a.m. in Pawley Theatre-Martin Luther King Hall.  The Nurse Pinning Ceremony will be held that same evening, at 7 p.m. in Mitchell Auditorium-Richardson Fine Arts Center.  
 
Three students will be commissioned as second lieutenants in the United States Army during the Fall Commissioning.  The guest speaker will be Brigadier General J. Marty Robinson, Assistant Adjutant General with the Missouri National Guard. Sixteen students have completed the requirements for nursing degrees.  Dr. Ann McSwain, Interim Head of the Department of Nursing Science, will lead the pinning ceremony.
