LOUIS PUBLIC RADIO INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style='color: #FF0303;'&gt;[ ENGINEERING ]&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The student will assist the Chief Engineer in all technical areas of the station, and plan projects as needed. Activities throughout the semester may include Automation systems setup; computer setup and installation; configuration of Audio Digital Console system; wiring equipment; use of test equipment and testing procedures; application of industry standards and FCC technical regulations; and troubleshooting and related paperwork. Radio frequency work with FM transmitter, microwave STL and satellite downlink at additional St. Louis Public Radio facilities outside of the studios may be included.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style='color: #FF0303;'&gt;[ INTERACTIVE MEDIA ]&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The student will assist the Director of Interactive Media in building the St. Louis Public Radio communities on social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter, by discussing programs, responding to comments, and promoting station activities. The student will also help with basic website updates.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style='color: #FF0303;'&gt;[ NEWS ]&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The student will learn to record and playback on the digital recording medium; learn basic editing skills in digital media; be taught broadcast style writing; learn to write and read a newscast to time; go out with a reporter to a press conference at least once during the semester; learn how to update the news page on the St. Louis Public Radio website; incorporate their writing, producing, and broadcasting skills into their final project. Advanced interns will learn how to conduct telephone interviews and to produce them. The intern may be asked to conduct interviews in the field or to attend news conferences. Throughout the semester, the intern may also be asked to assist anchors in producing newscasts.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style='color: #FF0303;'&gt;[ PRODUCTION ]&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The student will learn to operate the console, the Adobe Audition digital editing software, the AudioVAULT hard drive storage and playback system, and will learn St. Louis Public Radio broadcast production procedures and standards. Activities throughout the semester may include recording and editing commentaries and transferring them to AudioVAULT; recording and mixing the open and preparing music beds for the daily talk show; post production of the daily talk show to produce a recording for the evening repeat and a version for the website; serving as the call screener for the daily talk show; archiving the talk show and commentaries; and recording and mixing fundraising spots. There may be an occasional remote recording for use on the Friday arts show.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style='color: #FF0303;'&gt;[ PROGRAMMING ]&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The student will learn to operate the console, the Adobe Audition digital editing software, the AudioVAULT hard drive storage and playback system, and will learn St. Louis Public Radio production procedures and standards. Activities throughout the semester may include recording and editing commentaries and transferring them to AudioVAULT; recording audio for Sonic IDs and music projects and transferring them to AudioVAULT; recording and mixing audio pieces for Sonic IDs, My Source spots, commentaries and promos; importing produced promos into the AudioVAULT system; importing audio for web use; research and contact for the Local Music Initiative; possible editing of promo copy. There may be an occasional remote for use on the Friday arts show.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style='color: #FF0303;'&gt;[ SPECIAL EVENTS &amp;amp; MARKETING ]&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The student will assist the Special Events &amp;amp; Marketing department with station promotions and community outreach. Activities may include but are not limited to preparing press releases; researching fund raising events executed by other public radio and television stations, and other nonprofit organizations; assist with the coordination of special events and promotions; assist with marketing and advertising efforts.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;***************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style='font-size: 1.1em';&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;div style='text-align: center'&gt;HOW TO APPLY&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Eligibility:&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A candidate must be an undergraduate student, graduate student or recent graduate (within six months of beginning the internship).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Application Deadlines: &lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Spring semester applications must be submitted by October 29th, 2012. &lt;br /&gt;Summer semester applications must be submitted by &lt;span style='color: #FD0303;'&gt;March 22nd, 2013&lt;/span&gt;. &lt;br /&gt;Fall semester applications must be submitted by &lt;span style='color: #FD0303;'&gt;May 24th, 2013&lt;/span&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Visit &lt;b&gt;www.stlpublicradio.org/info/internships.php&lt;/b&gt; to download an application form.
