    <summary type="html">NY Union Semester is for students who are passionate about social justice. It combines academic scholarship with on-the-ground experience at organizations committed to building a fairer society.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We are now accepting applications for the fall 2013 semester. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;NY Union Semester provides undergraduate and graduate students with  &lt;br /&gt;•         A 32-hour/week, 15-week internship at a New York City labor union or a labor-affiliated organization;&lt;br /&gt;•         Labor studies courses at the Murphy Institute for Worker Education and Labor Studies at the City University of New York (CUNY); &lt;br /&gt;•         A weekly stipend and monthly unlimited-ride transit allowance; &lt;br /&gt;•         In-state tuition and a scholarship&lt;br /&gt;•         A certificate in Labor Studies from CUNY’s School of Professional Studies along with 16 undergraduate or 12 graduate credits; plus&lt;br /&gt;•         Networking opportunities and the chance to experience New York City and its rich cultural and political life. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Many New York Union Semester graduates become union or community organizers, researchers, labor lawyers or administrators at not-for-profit organizations. Most students were referred to Union Semester by a contact at their home college or university.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Students wishing to apply for the fall 2013 semester should submit their applications by &lt;b&gt;June 17th&lt;/b&gt;.
